Skills audit:
When it comes to communication I tend to keep things on a formal level, to show the person that I am talking to that I respect them and I am engaged in the conversation. To progress anywhere in life you need to have good communications skills so it is easier to work with or a long side others. These skills can be applied anywhere and everywhere but in the art industry it is great to be able to work with others well because it is an industry where you work solo and get exposure on your own or you work with others and help build each other up so you or your team gains exposure to progress further in the industry.

What is it that makes you happiest in life?
Achieving my goals and making those who believe in me proud.

What do you do that makes you feel invincible?
Nothing,I never feel invincible I do things like any other human.

What do people thank you for most?

Being caring, I tend to help people more than some people because it helps people and helps spread positivity.

What are you ridiculously good at?
Adapting to any game that I play.

Who do you look up to/admire? why?

I look up to anyone one that spreads positivity and lives their dreams. It motivates me to be more positive and to chase after my dream.

When was the last time you massively over delivered on something? What was it? Why did you work so hard?

I feel like i over delivered on my level 2 games design project, I obtained a grade that I thought I would have never achieved. I achieved it by working as hard I could and constantly working up until the submissions. The reason why I worked so hard was down to the sheer fact that I wanted to prove to my tutors that I did belong on the course and that them picking me for the course was not a waste of a slot.

When was the last time you were so engrossed in something that you lost track of time? What were you doing?
I lose track of time quite often but recently I have been spending my free time playing the game fortnite. I normally play a  little bit on a weekday day but on the weekend I can be playing until the sun comes up.

Imagine you had won £158 Million on the lottery, it is now 3 months later, what will you do tomorrow?
If I won £158 million on the lottery I would distribute some of the money to my family so everyone wouldn't have to work as hard if they wanted to. I would then keep some of the money for any study fees that I might gain in the future. I would then invest money into big companies so I could make back the money that I spent already and the rest I would keep for living expenses like a nice house and keep a lot of money for my children.

What would you do if you could not fail?
If I couldn't fail I would learn Japanese, complete a Japanese course to prove that I can speak Japanese fluently. Then move to japan and apply for a game designer job.

If you could have or do anything what would it be?
If I could do anything in the world I would like to work for my one of my favourite game companies. I think if I worked for Nintendo or Sega I would be quite happy with my job.

What topics are you passionate about and would argue with others over?

I am very passionate about protecting others from discrimination and prejudice anything that is negative really. I feel like all humans should treat it other equally because at the end of the day we all just want to be happy.

What makes you most angry about with the world? If you had the resources, how would you fix it?
One thing that really gets me angry about the world is world hunger and people being homeless. With all of the money that is circling around the world there shouldn't be people in these horrible situations. Everyone should have a nice home, food water ect.

When was the last time you couldn’t sleep because you were excited about something? What was it?
Normally when I am excited and I can't sleep is when it's my birthday or christmas because I like opening present/cards. I am a big kid at heart.

What work would you gladly do for free?
If a gaming company asked me to work with them for one game and I gain experience and proof I helped I would like to work on a game. That way I would have the experience on working on the game and it could help me progress further in the games industry.

What do your friends tell you that you are good at?
Eating huge portions of food.

What are you naturally curious about?
Where I will be in 20 years.

If you had a free hour to surf the internet, what would you explore? (not inc social media)

Blogs and speculation forums on the new games that I am currently waiting for because I like to guess what new games are coming.

When you were between 5 and 10 what did you want to be when you grew up?
Game maker

What art skills do you feel most confident about currently?
Modelling I have improved quite a lot since my first ever modelling project.

What aspects of games are you most interested in currently?

Multiplayer I love playing with friends.

If Bethesda and a small but successful independent games company rang you today to offer you work experience, who would you choose to go with? Why?

I would go with Bethesda because there are well know in the industry, they will probably know a lot about the industry because they have been in it for so long and it would help on a lot on a cv.

Personal statement:
From the age of fourteen I have been involved in the digital art world. It all started off as a hobby of making banners and logo’s for my friends, after getting feedback off of them I realised I wanted to do this for a living. However, I wanted to implement these skills towards the games industry.
After discovering a new passion relating to the games industry I decided to get involved as soon as possible so when I was given the option to do work experience in secondary school I ran with the opportunity and asked a local game company if they would take me under their wing for a week. During the week I had to test their game to try and find any problems with the game. In my spare time on the work experience I watched these professionals create games using 3d modelling software. Being fascinated by all of this I asked if they could teach me some basics so I could be one step closer to my dream job.
When I left school I enrolled on a Games Art and Design course at Birmingham Metropolitan College. For me, taking this step was huge step towards my dream job. Studying game art has been best few years of my life, I have made great friends through this course and my confidence as an artist has never been stronger. I have never been this passionate before. Whether it is set tasks, or self-initiated, I just enjoy learning and developing as an artist within this field. I feel proud to be a part of something so unique and fun.  After studying Games Art for nearly three years now, I have developed as an artist and a person.
When I am not working on college projects, I tend to listen to music a lot in my spare time because I like exploring different genres. I also skateboard because it is one of my favourite ways to exercise besides long walks and I also enjoy playing games because a love a good challenge.
I know this course can help build on the foundation of skills I have developed throughout college. I look forward to working as a part of a team project and developing my professional social skills through your course. I have no doubt that studying with you will help me to get a step closer to my goal of becoming a professional game artist and I intend to make every moment count in this amazing experience.

University application proof:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Portfolio things to do and things not to do:

Things you should do when creating a portfolio:
  • Clearly presenting your work
  • Make sure you have work you are proud of
  • Insert your best piece of work at the from to show what standard of work you create
Things you should not do when creating a porfolio:
  • Have poorly presented work
  • Do not insert pieces of work that you are not proud of

If you can present your work well it increases your chances of getting an interview or just getting the role you applied for.
